SR22 Driver Filing
Reader’s Question:
Though I am a very careful driver, I don’t know when I will get an accident and it is my fault. I heard about SR22 in California but I know a little about it, I don’t even know how to file it? Is SR22 Insurance Filing should be done by me or my car insurers?

Actually, not everybody needs an SR22 but then you are still right about thinking what if accidents happen especially if you are at fault, this is a very responsible thing to do. SR22 is a proof that you have the state required minimum insurance, this is a statement of your financial responsibility that certain people are required to have. Those who have been caught breaking the laws of the road of California are required to get SR22. You need SR22 insurance filing if you want your driver’s license reinstated or get car insurance.
SR22 insurance filing is mostly done by your car insurers, you just have to tell them or inform them that you need one and they will file it for you to the Department of Motor Vehicles. SR22 insurance filing is a very simple thing to do, you just have to fill up the required form and send it to the right regulatory agency within a particular period of time. Having a need for SR22 insurance filing does not mean it’s the end of the world for you as a driver but instead, it is a way for you to still be able to hit the road. SR22 insurance filing is a record of your personal information as well as your car insurance. SR22 is also a certification from your insurers that you have the state’s required minimum coverage.
